A challenge for my readers

From a colleague: name 5 current first-class county cricketers whose careers began on or before 1990.

At a guess: Cork, Gough, Grant Flower (played for Zimbabwe in 1990), Ramprakash. Any other suggestions gratefully received.

Meanwhile, I'm filling in a reference for a student who wants to do a PGCE through our education school. How shameful that that particular department knows not how to deploy apostrophes. Must try harder. See me!

Darren Gough has retired, Voley.

Cork
Flower
Ramprakash
Udal
Croft

Would be my 5 guesses. Do let us know the answer!

I think you're right. I'd not noticed Gough retire, and I'd forgotten about Udal completely. There might be a few more about too, but I can't think of any. Has Ronnie Irani gone?

Yes, both Gough and Chicken now work for talkSPORT.

All others I can think of - Caddick, Hick, Robin Martin-Jenkins and others have all retired. Where does time go eh?
