Airy business

Have a look at this lovely piece of documentary, following the World Championships for ultra-light handmade aeroplanes - some of which can fly for half an hour on one twisted rubber band. There's a stunning beauty about the planes themselves, and the work that goes into them, but there's something missing.

Women.

Is there something essentially male about the pursuit of perfection in such a tiny and specialised activity? Or is there some social bar to women's participation? Or is it that there's a link between autism and being male - and that these guys are somewhere along the autistic scale? Certainly the bearded Brit implies that there's something therapeutic about his hobby.
