The world's gone bobbins

Farewell, Frank Sidebottom.

If you don't know who he is, how to explain?
A grown man wearing a papier-maché head and allowing us an insight into a weird and wonderful mentality, for comedy purposes. Chris Sievey was in various bands and music was the core of his act: faux-naive songs for children or about Altrincham FC and Timperley, where he lived. He died yesterday at 54, following surgery for a tumour.

I never really got it, to be honest. However I was sad yesterday as he's a legendary figure in Manchester.

When I was doing a bit of wiki-ing yesterday about him it turns out Marc Riley (Lard, as I remember him) used to be in The Fall! Who knew?!

Everybody's been in The Fall - there's even a book tracking down 50 ex-members.

I've interviewed Riley and Radcliffe - absolute gentlemen. This was in the Mark and Lard evening show days - they were brilliant then. Poetry Corner…

Tony McCarols classical gas actually nearly made me wet myself. I used to love Art Pixie too.
