Statistics for beginners

Labour (!) Party leadership candidates: 5
Cambridge or Oxford graduate candidates: 5.

For the record:
There are 22 ministerial members of the government Cabinet, which consists mostly of Tory Scum and some National Liberals.

Oxford University: 11
Cambridge University: 4
Edinburgh: 1
Glasgow: 1
Exeter: 1
Queen Mary, U of London: 1
Leeds Polytechnic: 1
College of Law: 1
Sandhurst (Army Officer Training College): 1 (Iain Duncan Smith).
Other 110 or so higher education establishments: 0

Fee-paying secondary schools: 13
State secondary schools: 8

Hmm. I wonder if there's a political class which goes to a narrow range of institutions (with an intake of 55% privately educated students from 7% of the school population), goes straight into politics and has no experience of work or existence outside power and privilege? Do you think that money buys you power and contacts?
