Words from the wise

From the Guardian's 'Notes and Queries' section:
It has occurred independently to many philosophers that to buy a book is not necessarily the same thing as buying the time to read it.
This really strikes at my heart. I must confess to a mild depression when there were no books in my pigeonhole today, which is very bad indeed.

I've been buying too many and not reading enough - perhaps it's time for a moratorium on book purchases. My bank account could do with it.

For how long do you think I can go cold turkey?
