How journalism works

You write the story, then wait for the events to happen.

As this Guardian story shows, the newspapers' judgement on the leadership debate largely followed those papers' fixed political ideas:

The Sun: Brown lost badly, Clegg was rubbish
The Mirror: Brown won
The Express: 'Brown down and out… Advantage Cameron'
The Guardian: Clegg, otherwise unclear
The Daily Mail: BBC bastards send thousands to follow events, shut it down etc. etc.
