Poetry corner

Cynical Ben is versifying. They're pretty good, especially the one about Neal - it sums him up.

Are any of you old enough to remember when Mark and Lard had the evening Radio 1 slot? Amongst the cornucopia of delights was Poetry Corner: Simon Armitage, John Hegley (now doing Yorkshire Tea adverts) and many other leftfield cleverclogs. It certainly persuaded me that poetry could be cool.

Isn’t it unbelievable; something good on Radio One that was actually deeply intelligent thus should still be on forever more but signifies another critical point of the BBC's decline and I may mention this in my next article?

Well, I'd been unable to hear it clearly anyhow even the familiar dialect of my hero, Simon Armitage. I say hero, he is probably my father considering the short distance between our villages in North Yorkshire.

Never heard that Mark and Lard show. Ewarwoowar does keep sending me youtube videos of a song they did though.

I like Simon Armitage but I think Demented has to be a bigger fan. Either that or someone has a man crush.

Oh, any excuse to listen to this again. "Dave Lee Travesty" always makes me laugh.
