Sounds spectacular 2

This review of my CD collection is going to throw up some bands I'd forgotten about (the 7" collection features even more forgotten talent). Today's effort is Acetone's album, ingeniously named Acetone.

This album appeared in 1997, and sounds like an American version of shoegazing, mixed with a dash of country, poppier Velvet Underground and some surf-rock, though they were signed to none-more-punk Vapor Records. They released 5 albums before their lead singer Richie Lee killed himself in 2001, though I haven't any of the others and can't remember why I have this one, but it's seeped into my consciousness. Scruffy, fun pop-rock - can't go wrong.
