People decompose, McDo doesn't.

Boing Boing told me two things today:

that Alex Chilton, of Big Star, has died aged 59. I loved Big Star - the origins of so much jangly guitar pop

and

if you leave a McDonald's Happy Meal on a shelf for a year, it looks exactly the same. That can't be good.

13 is one of those songs that is sure to make me well up every time i hear it. Such a beautiful, melancholic contrast of melody and lyrics. R.I.P Alex Chilton, you will be sadly missed by many.

Such a great guitar band too. I remember working out 'O My Soul' and '13' with a band I used to play with. The parts were so complex and worked so well, when we played them together it felt like we had conjured up real magic.
