Hermit wanted

Manchester Museum is looking for an environmental hermit to live in a garret and think green thoughts for 8 weeks (we're all going to perish in an environmental cataclysm of our own making - doesn't take that long): Map Twat Dan needs some money and time to write up his thesis on pigeons - job done!

Aside from the fact I've missed the deadline, it said they were looking for an 'inspirational and quirky artist' - which in my book is code for 'bell-end'. And probably an affluent, middle-class hippy bell-end at that.

If I was locked in that tower for 8 weeks I imagine that I'd have sneaked in a fair bit of drink, so the only 'art' I'd produce would be of the piss variety. Though I'd probably do it out the windows (for hygiene reasons of course) which actually might look quite good if it was floodlit from below at night.

I think 8 weeks in a tower would suit you rather more - as long as you had plenty of books and lo-fi with you.

Dan, you really should start a blog you know.

Maybe - though some days I struggle to get any work done at all, never mind writing a blog as well (and if I did start a blog I'd probably end up spending more time on that than on my PhD).

Aidan - Regarding your e-mail(!), I should point out that I wasn't suggesting that you are a bell-end, just that you'd like the seclusion and the reading opportunities that would involve. Or are you obliquely trying to tell me that secretly you actually are a middle-class hippy artist who is involved with projects that use the phrases 'community theatre', 'personal growth' and 'creativity facilitator'?
