Birmingham's very wettest band?

This is Felt. They were very sensitive boys. I like them. They're gone now (though one did go on to found Denim, a group which heavily influenced David Wrench's sublime second album.

I have a Felt mini-LP entitled "Crumbling the Antiseptic Beauty", which must rank as one of the worst title ever.
Fortunately it's rather a good album as I recall. In fact I will go home and play it this evening!

I've tried to get into Felt a few times and always failed, it just sounds like a tuneless version of Lloyd Cole and the Commotions to me. But I did find all the entries on Lawrence in the Creation biography My Magpie Eyes Have Seen The Prize extremely amusing.

Totally unconnected to Felt (sorry, never heard of them, I'm a pleb), are you familiar with Henryk Gorecki's Totus Tuus? It's choral, very much in a similar vein to Lauridsen. You might like it.

Hi all. OK, Lawrence's titles are a little try-hard, but there's a certain crepuscular charm to them. The early stuff is a little sophomoric, but I was surprised the other day by how muscular and upbeat the middle period (Creation) stuff is. Must buy that book. And give Lloyd Cole a go - he passed me by first time around.

Gorecki - I've listened to some but usually found it a little bland, but I'll have a listen. Thanks for the tip!
