We're at the mercy of Luxembourg now

David Cameron has listed the stuff he plans to demand from Europe should he become PM. Amongst them - withdrawing from the 'charter of fundamental rights' and the 'social chapter', because he obviously believes that British citizens and residents should be free from pesky restrictions such as safe employment conditions and human rights.

Luckily, these things need a unanimous vote of EU nations. So let's pick a small one, such as Luxembourg, and beg them to vote no. Alternatively, let's all NOT VOTE TORY. Just an idea…

That's a hilarious idea, we should definitely do that if they try to take us out of the social chapter.

We could take Cameron to the European Court of Human Rights for trying to deny us our fundamental human rights.

What a fabulous idea Neal. Yes I am equally flabberghasted/put out by this, but more so at the prospect of many members of the public gleefully voting for him come next May on the strength of these very policies, perhaps we should just MOVE to Luxembourg instead....

Actually, come to think of it, why stop at lobbying Luxembourg? We can draft a standard letter and send it to the heads of all 27 member states, having first put it on the web and gained mass signatories, perhaps through 38 degrees? (Government lobbying body - 38degrees.org.uk)

Kate - great ideas. I would rather like to move to Luxembourg.

Alternatively, let's declare the UK a dependent territory of any Scandinavian state you care to apply to. Instant coolness, style, good public services, neutrality, no more nuclear-armed macho bullshit, a moral purpose, better education system… the advantages are endless.
