OMG! BLE rocks!

Blended learning, done at The Hegemon, is a means of cutting down on staff, rooms and resources - a purely mechanical simulation of education - read Ritzer's The McDonaldisation of Education for a readers' guide.

Turns out, however, that technology supported learning can be creative and add substantially to the intellectual work done by staff and students - it can constitute symbolic exchange, to use the Baudrillardian vocabulary.

I can't believe how much I'm enjoying this course… Feel quite cut-off from the world though. What's going on?

I'm thinking of setting up a blog(s) solely for two group presentations. So we have somewhere where everything can be stored quickly and easily, instead of Powerpoint. Good/bad idea? How does it go down with the teachers?

In other news lawyers are clamping down on file sharers in rather a haphazard way http://news.bbc.co.uk/1/hi/technology/8381097.stm

We do a lot of technology supported learning at Brunel via our intranet such as online discussion groups for modules, uploading course related learning materials and podcasts offering guidance (of how to submit research proposals to the ethics committee for example). I've found it a great help as both a student and lecturer. Please share any gems of wisdom gleaned with an aspiring early career lecturer!

More by e-mail then Kate, when I get outgoing mail going again.

Dan: yes, do it. But make it significant.
