Square Eyes

If anyone's in Wolverhampton tomorrow, The Light House cinema is showing The Third Man, one of the best films of the 20th-century - a great British noir-thriller starring Orson Welles. See you there?

Also, Moon, a return to 1970s philosophical science fiction is on next week. There's a clip here.

Ah, Harry Lime. I shan't be attending, but if anyone is in Wolverhampton, worth going along just for Wells in that film, and his famous line about Switzerland.

An excellent film. Between that and Touch Of Evil for the best Welles film, in my opinion.

Great film. I'm a big fan of Graham Greene actually, I enjoy his lean no fuss prose.

It really is stunning: a great author on top form (Greene slackened later), brilliant actors and one of the best directors in the business. The photography alone is worth seeing it for.

Alas I can't make it, I have it on DVD, but think it's one of those films that you'd appreciate much more on the big screen. Saw Synecdoche New York at the weekend, absolutely stunning, I'm still reeling from it three days later and dying to see it again(the independent cinema had a one night only showing). It's easily one of the best films I've ever seen, but then I'm a big fan of Charlie Kaufman's other work (Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind, Adaptation, Being John Malkovich). It was on general release in May so you may have to wait for the DVD (out October 12th) but I strongly recommend it.

Neal and I saw that at the Electric Cinema in Birmingham a few years back. Excellent on the big screen. Go see it.
