More wombling madness

Now, there are other Wombles available. For some reason, Ulster Defence Association loyalist terrorists and their friends call themselves wombles (as this fascinating piece explains), and it was also adopted by a group of very impressive anti-capitalist protestors.

Hilary tipped me off to this work of genius: Neil Innes's song (as The Grimms) 'Womble Bashers of Walthamstow'. The Grimms was Innes, some Liverpool Poets and Scaffold, and recorded three albums after Innes left the Bonzo Dog Doo Dah Band. Yes, it was the 60s and 70s.
