So you can guess that I'm particularly pleased by news that one of my own colleagues has put her name to this modern branch of publicity-seeking charlatanry, as noted by Frank Swain (h/t to Ben Goldacre). Apparently the best pancake is defined mathematically, not by taste. Aaaaarrrrrgggghhh.
Some good news now: I'm keeping my English teaching job for another 2 years, despite this blog! Hurrah!

Congrats on the job.
Wonderful news, along with Simon Artmitage at the Met in Manchester you are the only ones I would even consider listening to (or reading the notetaker notes during class rather then skim through later on). I'm sure it'll be far longer then 2 years, too.
*Armitage, dammit.
By the way, did anyone see the BBC programme he did on Sir Garwin and the Green Knight?
Many congratulations Voley!
I disagree with Demented Demon - you're no Frank Wilson, but then again, who the hell is?
Three cheers for Vole!
Thanks for those kind comments. I aspire to be half as good as Frank.
Armitage's translation of Gawain is brilliant. I'll catch the show on iPlayer.
Great news.
I've never had the pleasure of a lecture but if you're half the lecturer Ken Page is than you're great.
PS: Iannuci's Milton programme was rather good, wasn't it?
Well done on keeping the job. More Twelfth Night for you then, and the wonderful excuse to watch Blackadder in lectures!
Stop stalling, GIVE ME THE FORMULA! I WANT PANCAKES!
oh, yeah, and well done on the job stuff.
Ken Page is an utter genius - as was Ianucci on Milton. More Blackadder will be provided, relevant or not.
Congratulations! They know when they are on to a good thing!
