I had a wander round with my camera earlier, capturing the changing of the season and the ongoing demolition of the building across the road. More here, or click on these for embiggening.
Seems like an odd way to demolish a building. Is it going to be gnawed away from the outside like an apple or munched straight through leading to the top falling onto the ringroad? Perhaps they're trying to get into the Guinness Book of Records for the world's biggest game of Jenga.
Out of my study window (I have a study doncha know) I can see them nibbling away at the last block of Blakenhall flats (just off the Dudley Rd) in the distance. This time it's Jenga from the top down with a crane. Did you know that our old office windows (when we were based in Dudley) looked out on the flats that feature on the back cover of Led Zep IV? Then they blew them up. Just thought you'd like to know.
I think it's an old technique of making a construction job last a reeallly lonnng tiiime. They'll see the downturn out, and then get back to blowing things up.
