I've been coming to work every day for 10 years (yes, I'm unemployable elsewhere), even during the holidays when nobody else is around. Every day, I say hello to the security guards. I know their names, they (mostly) know mine.
Only one of them demands to see my ID every time I walk through the doors. Even more ridiculously, I show him my card. The card which has a photograph of somebody else on it. David Mitchell, in fact. Every time he looks at it, he lets me through.
It's becoming a weird experience.
