I get readers. Rather surprising ones

I have been recommended on a Twitter stream called iliveforgoodsex, which is, um, surprising. I noticed visits referred from that site via Sitemeter. The lady in question describes her feed as

A BBW/MILF model living and working in Florida. Offering tips for serious lovemaking and sexual health.

This is emphatically not what my blog's about, but welcome to Nadine and her readers in any case! Come for the sarcasm, stay for the political and literary commentary.

Be ashamed, Gretna Virginia

I get readers. Some of them arrive here via very strange searches.

pit viper juice erectile dysfunction

I can't tell whether his erectile dysfunction is caused by pit viper venom, or whether he wants to cure it with pit viper venom. Perhaps he's a member of a snake-handling church. I do know that advice of this kind is not available on The Plashing Vole.

Feel free to add your medical advice in case our American chum returns.

Readership flagging?

Can't get your hit rate up? Then ENHANCE your blogging power by winding up Christians. I did, and got 50-odd extra hits overnight from every continent except Antarctica, thanks to alphainventions.com, which featured me in some odd way I can't work out. Thanks, guys! Come for the sarcasm, stay for the lo-fi.

I get readers: odd ones (2)

Even better than the American who searched for 'nude Geordie lasses' is this Google search, from Abbotsford, British Columbia, Canada:

do i need licence in b.c to keep a monkey

Maybe you do, or maybe you don't, but you definitely need your head examined if you think that keeping a monkey as a pet is a civilised thing to do. Leave it in the jungle (or the lab).

He gets readers

I'm always pleased when 35 people read my blog in a day (actually, 35 views doesn't mean 35 unique visitors). Imagine my jealousy: Pharyngula got 2, 296, 911 visitors last month. That's more than 35 a day, English students!

Note to self - it's not a competition.

But enough of me…

One thing lacking on this sorry excuse for a blog is a sense of exchange between Plashing Vole and you, dear reader (readers?). In some ways, the absence of a known interlocutor makes it more of a diary, and is in some ways liberating. However, I'd like to know what you think, if indeed you do. Of what would you like more, and of what would you like to see less? I tend to avoid work-related matters because being sacked is bad for my self-esteem, and I'm not really a soul-baring kind of rodent, but I'd be intrigued to hear your suggestions. Who's for more literature and media studies?
