All the fun of the fair

Lots of photographs from Puck Fair 2011 here.
Some more samples from the horse fair - click for larger versions.

Daddy, I Want A Pony! I really do want a Kerry Bog Pony. Who'd want a dog when you can have a miniature horse?

Trading is done using a system of grunts and frowns. And always away from the prying eyes of the taxman

Why the long face? Said the horse… Arf.

This didn't happen.

The head of the Metropolitan Police says it didn't:
the Metropolitan police chief said tactics "did not involve charging the crowd".

Definitely didn't happen. In case it doesn't happen again, a pocketful of marbles may come in very useful.

Hot to trot

Learning the trade

Saint Philomena, for some reason

Queuing patiently

I like the expressions on each side

Pius X? No idea why.

Why the long face?

Because I'm a horse! Full set here. Click on the images for large versions.

Horsing about

Today's the Horse Fair at Puck Fair - hordes of donkeys and horses from racing steeds to tiny bog ponies brought down from the country by old men in their best suits and their manly bochtáins - proud young fellows identifiable by the sticks, stomachs and bottoms stuck out. Sales are conducted in mutters of disbelief, shaken heads and imperceptible nods - cash only. Lads and lasses take a canter around the ground to show off their wares, usually while talking on their mobile phones.

I took a lot of pictures - horses, donkeys and real characters. They're all here. Click on these samples for full-screen versions.
