What a stupid start to the day

Trying to pay my water bill, I realise I left my card in a cash machine, two days ago. What an utter moron I can be…

Ho hum. Back to work. At least I can't buy any books for another week.

Update. Not in a cash machine. In a supermarket yesterday evening. I'm still a moron.

Don't beat yourself up. We're all fallible when it comes to forgetting. Years ago I went to collect my eldest son from school and, due to him being upset about something that had happened to him and my trying to comfort him, I completely forgot that I had my toddler with me too. When I finally remembered, my little person had wandered out of the school grounds and was found on the main road. It's not worth thinking about what could have happened.

And last year, my friend in Australia took her dog out in the car for a walk on the beach. When she returned home she completely forgot about the dog being in the car. She was too busy stressing about the anniversary surprise she was planning for her husband. She only remembered poor Fizz when she was due to collect her children from school in the car. She found Fizz dead with her paws all bloody and ripped where she had tried frantically to claw her way out. She was curled up in a ball in the footwell.

Forgetfulness, unfortunately, happens to us all.
