Map Twats once more

A subsection of the Map Twats got out to Mitchell's Fold this Saturday: Dan, Mark, Gerry and me. Dan and I got the bus from Shrewsbury and walked up to this Bronze Age stone circle on the Shropshire / Wales border - Gerry and Mark, as decrepit old geezers, drove there, but then dragged their weary carcasses up the 45-degree incline of Corndon Hill for the magnificent views of Shropshire, and Wales as far as Cader Idris and the Black Mountains. Dan and I then headed up Lan Fawr, overlooking a beautiful Welsh valley before joining the oldsters in the pub.

The light was hazy for most of the day, but the afternoon sun was beautiful over the rolling hills. We saw larks, buzzards, ravens, kestrels and several small brown birds. One or two hippies also.

The whole set of pictures are here. Here's a sample.

Friend or fan

Yesterday morning, it was all so simple. I was going to spend Saturday walking to Mitchell's Fold (a Bronze Age stone circle on the Shropshire Hills), then go to the Monteverdi concert on Sunday with my mother.

Not any more. Film Four are having a Star Trek Marathon. All ten films, with introductions and discussions. Oh my. Even the rubbish films (III, parts of IV - which was nominated for four Oscars - all the Next Generation ones) are sorely tempting.

Hm. Daddy or chips?

Your thoughts? Or abuse…
