I stopped, cold turkey, and shook for a full week.

Not only do I feel better, it's saved me an absolute fortune, filtered water's a hell of a lot cheaper than some cocktail of chemicals and sugar.

Can't get rid of the coffee tho'. Coke is better (though for some reason it tastes far better drunk from a glass bottle than from metal or plastic).

Your beer analogy is an interesting one because Pepsi and Coke are the Fosters and John Smiths of the fizzy pop world. As with beer, smaller companies put more (for want of a better word) love into the manufacturing process.

In Boston, I went to a diner that had a huge fridge, full of different varieties of root beer. I wanted them all. In New Zealand, fizzy drinks are light and fresh (because it actually gets hot, and whatever swill like Tango and Fanta supply the drinker, refreshment is not it).

So, apart from doing the equivalent of eating a babybell and declaring all cheese revolting, great post.

Pepsi is nasty stuff though.
