Students: has your loan come through yet?

I think the student loan system is despicable. I think selling the loan book off to corporations is utterly despicable, and I think that the massive delays in getting the cash to 150,000  students was reprehensible and despicable.

I've now run out of adjectives for the massive bonuses for Student Loan Company bosses announced today. Perhaps you should come up with a few, and put them on a postcard to:

Most of the people moaning are people who left it late. I got mine in nice and early, and didn't have a problem.

Student loan ftw! (Goes off to play a bit more XBox)

Whoa Ewar! I too, sent off my application months in advance knowing of the anguish many would face and yet I did not get mine nowhere on time. Two years ago whilst at York, I actually went to the HQ in Darlington and sure enough I got my loan sorted thanks to a Russian associate and I swaggering in with my usual brooding demeanour as you well know. They actually apprieate customer interface I believe, they are just utterly incompetent as Vole says.

So no, the SLC do not ‘win’ in any situation even in shoddy customer service or worse company in the UK-that prized title goes to the Royal Mail.

Don't even get me started!! I would love to put something nasty in an envelope and send them it in the post.
Such an utterly frustrating system! For the past two years I have applied the trusty old way filling it out with a pen and popping it in the post. This year I was informed that online would be less hassle, so that's what I did. It caused nothing but hassle, I finally got my loan on the 2nd November (It wasn't even the correct amount). Meanwhile I have had to struggle since September in the sense of not having money to buy the books needed for my course, living costs etc. I am more fortunate than other students though because I have a job on the side or I would have been screwed. Not all of us can live off handouts from parents, so to mess it up on such a large scale disgusting. Fair enough they were supposed to be handing out emergancy loans to 'priority students' - first years mainly, but fat lot of help that is when you are not in first year. It really does make me angry.
