It's Christmas!

Despite my habitual whinging, this institution can be the source of great bounty: Neal and I have just acquired professional quality tripods (sadly, not Tripods), and a great extra birthday gift for Dan.

Now I'm off to 'discuss' with Registry where the missing essays are…

Registry is in the top 3 of things that I don't like about this university.

Agreed. They have lost 4 essays.

Registry's attitude is predictable though: Resentment of students + increasing resentment of staff + growing resentment of colleagues + an office with no windows = flakey and obstructionist attitude to job. See. It's all explanicable by maths.

Any luck in finding those essays? The woman in registry scares me a bit. I got their at one minute to five once, due to printer meltdown in the library. She gave me a look that said she wanted to kill me.

No, none. I've mailed the unfortunate victims to get electronic copies.

As I wrote the headline for this post (It's Christmas), Low's 'It Was Just Like Christmas' started playing on my computer. Serendipity.

What about the bird themed songs?

I've run out - I've only got 45 specifically bird-referencing songs. Animals or nature next.

The thing that annoys me about the registry is this new thing that only HLSS has, where you have to print off a barcode thing instead of just going in and quickly filling out a form.

It would be okay, if it not for the fact that every time I've done this, they've informed me that it hasn't scanned properly, and after 10 minutes of standing around they tell me they'll have to email me my receipt. Gah!
