Can't we all just get along?

I enjoy a good argument, but when commenters start calling each other 'wanker', I can't help thinking that a little more imagination is required. So henceforth, a new rule:

only made-up nouns and adjectives when insulting people

Do, please, carry on with the spats, because it's fun. I will deleted boring swearing though. So you have to make a bit of effort. I know that many of you will find it fun.

Meanwhile, I am sitting in the sun, on the balcony, marking. It feels slightly less like slavery that way. I will resist the temptation to apply made-up words to various students on this blog. Perhaps I'll use said words on the coversheet. Perhaps some of the little Einsteins will even realise that they're actually not real words…

I'm off to the farm to buy parcels of bloody meat later: trotters, rabbit, pheasant mmmmmmm. And some oatcakes for the unenlightened masses outside Stoke and its environs.

Interesting to note that whoever Anonymous is, he/she has suddenly popped up during school/uni holidays. Just a point.

On which post did all this take place?

I am stuck in Newcastle staring at Fog on the Tyne. Trying to come up with some cleverly made up insult (with multi adjectives) but alas cannot. Could Feordie count?

I did work out that Cynical Ben was also posting as 'anonymous' to point out the ease by which identities can be hidden. But he isn't the original 'anonymous' from the post - under 'reading conundrum'. Join in, one and all! You spigot-munching hyacinths.

Emma - must try harder.

Ewarwoowar - It might be uni easter break but why would someone from uni try piss Aiden off. None of the English Lit group would be doing this - we all like you :)
+ LOL At Ben :)

Spelling my name incorrectly does the trick even if you are being complimentary!

Anonymous are you in Eng lit? Reveal yourself!

This particular anonymous is a dear friend - so play nice!

Following the request of a very friendly, furry animal, I won't abandon his blog. Instead, I shall now raise my defense.
I felt reluctant to reply to any of these less than exciting comments for it's true: Cynical Ben's humour does not translate well into black on white. Not ideal for such a proliferous blog-commentator, I fear. It's astonishing how people who are probably fairly tame in real life cut loose on the web, in this case for the surprising reason that the person they are addressing does not have an 'identity': So, Cynical Ben, you don't find cyberspace beings who call themselves Demented Demon, Ewarwoowar or merciless_public anonymous? Maybe now that you believe you know something about me (that I like deer, that is), you feel less lost and lonely in the big worldwideweb.
I am not a regular reader of blogs, as you guys might have guessed, but I must say that I had thought a blog to differ from a message board in that it was less centred on the commentators than on the blog's content. And I didn't think that commentators would be commenting on comments made by commentators on their own comments - in which they just swear a lot, at themselves. Well, I was wrong. But let me assure you, Cynical Ben: If I wanted to talk to you, I would make my way to your blog. (Note the conjunctive)
In the meantime: Cheers to the deer!

proliferous?

Non-native speaker, so no need for snarkiness, especially if you're not posting under an identifiable name. Note the 'The Deer' is capable of using conjunctives - are you?

Hello Deer Friend. I am sorry if my attempts at humour caused you any offense or upset you. I have deleted the posts under my own name but unfortunately I cannot remove the anonymous ones (If you could do that for me vole it would be appreciated - the one that just says proliferous isn't me by the way but you could probably remove that too)

Cynical Ben, you're a darling.
Proliferous is sort of a metaphor, anonymous (Is that myself? Am I schizophrenic? What is this here doing to me?), but maybe it doesn't work. Never mind: The king of this blog has just degraded me to a linguistically second-rate being, so what else is there to say?
